Australian Mini Cooper

There were many Special Edition Mini’s available in Japan that other countries didn’t get to see. Amongst other things these included special trim (including leather), paint colors and wheel & tyre combinations. The other benefit of the Japanese specifications is that most of them are fitted with air-conditioning. The Japanese vehicles have the additional benefit of generally not being exposed to the colder elements including snow and ice. Other advantages include them being in generally better condition and have travelled fewer kilometres than their UK counterparts.

As these vehicles are second hand there are some limits to the colour and trim options available. Cars are available in both manual and automatic and as mentioned some also have air conditioning.
From the time we purchase the car until they arrive in Australia is around 6 weeks from Japan and 12 weeks from the UK, then once we have taken delivery an additional 2 weeks is required to modify the car and fit the Australian compliance plate.
None of the modifications affect the external appearance or the performance.
Fuel Injection
The biggest leap forward in technology has been the addition of computer controlled electronic fuel injection.
This was brought about in part to meet more stringent emission regulations world wide, but gave the added bonus of a moderate boost in mid range torque.
